Warcraft & Anime & Ubuntu…Oh My?
I’ve had a weird block about writing this entry. I’ve been meaning to type something up for about a week, and I’m sure I’ve forgotten about half of what I intended to write.
I’m still playing World of Warcraft, so it’s safe to say that I’m hooked at this point. If you want to join me sometime, I have several characters on the Blade’s Edge realm. I can even give you a 10 day pass if you want to try it out, though I think there’s a trial you can get straight from the website. I was thinking of setting up a separate blog to avoid filling this one up with too much Warcraft talk, but I doubt it will get that bad. I can always do it later if it becomes an issue.
I watched the first episode of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion today. It aired last Saturday, but I finally got around to watching it now. I thought it was terrific. I wouldn’t have told you that it was CLAMP character designs without myself being told first, but once I saw it in the credits it was definitely an ‘aha’ moment. Out of the important characters, I was able to pick out most of the English voice actors. Even after all the anime I’ve watched, I still have fun doing that. I’m very interested in seeing more of the series, and I’m excited we’ve finally got something new on Adult Swim for anime.
Speaking of anime, I added a couple more podcasts to my phone. I haven’t listened to all of them yet, but I can recommend a couple of them.
R5Central is terrific. I could try to describe it, but I think the website would do a much better job. I especially enjoyed the audio quality and the music he uses.
Big Bald Broadcast is run by anime voice actor Kyle Hebert. You can check out his Wikipedia page for a list of his credits, but I bet you’ve heard him before. I haven’t listened to this one yet, so I’ll have to get back to it later.
Destroy All Podcasts DX is another anime/movies podcast. That’s not all it is, but I’m bad at describing things. It definitely isn’t redundant with the other ones I listen to, so it fills its niche nicely.
Since I put together a new gaming PC (ironically I only really play Warcraft on it at the moment, so it’s not being pushed by any means) I wiped the old system and installed Ubuntu server on it. I made the decision when Hardy Heron (8.04) was released, and it’s been pretty cool so far. It took me a little bit to get Deluge working, but it’s going now, and I got Samba and VNC running as well. I’m going to have FTP set up (probably through OpenSSH), but I can’t figure out anything else I’d like to do with it. I use it mostly for a file server so far. Anyone have any suggestions for what I can add to it? Is there any benefit to running a personal email server?
