Commitment
If you are anyone who knows me at all, or at least reads any of my three websites, you’ll have noticed that I sometimes have a hard time either getting motivated to write or just to budget my time well enough so that I post on time. Well, I’m trying to change that. I’m going to go ahead and try to treat these sites as a second job. This means at the very least posting on time and getting a backlog started so that even if I don’t have time to write something that week, I have something to post. I’ve started working on a calendar schedule for it and everything. This isn’t just one of my grand gestures that won’t get followed through on, either – I fully intend to pull this off. It would help if I was getting any sort of income from all of this, but it’s not like that’s going to happen unless some insane person just starts giving me money. Sometimes I wish I were more marketable. I also want to work on some longer writing projects that I’ve had floating around, non-blog projects. And as long as I’m wishing, I’d really like to be able to draw consistently.
Nothing much happening other than delusions of competence. I’m stealing an idea straight from my friend Kevin and building a bar for my apartment. It’s going to be smaller than his (he owns a house) and won’t have a tap, but I enjoy building things. I don’t get to do enough of it, so this is fun anyhow, even if no one ever comes to my house.
There are times when I wish I had any friends at all here other than my family – I’d like to get an offline, honest-to-goodness tabletop game night going. However, as I said, I don’t have any friends other than my family, and even though I love them, most of them are pretty lame and no fun at all to do board games or rpg-ing with.
So yes, I started out this post talking about something that would technically mean I’m growing up (just a little) but then ended with something that technically means I still don’t want to grow up. No, it’s not weird for someone of my advanced age (26) to feel this way. Shut up.
