Holiday Update
It’s been a rough month or so for me, which is why I haven’t posted anything in a while. My grandmother passed away and I’ve been dealing with holiday stuff since then as well. Now I should be able to get back in the swing of things, as long as I can keep myself motivated.
My brother and I picked up Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii on Friday, so this weekend has been spent playing a lot of that. We grabbed the whole band, though when it’s just me and my brother, he usually plays guitar and I play bass. I’m nowhere near as good as some people I know, but I’ve started playing some of the songs on medium, and just now I finished Dammit with a 98%.
My brother got me Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for Christmas, and while I haven’t played a ton of it, I think that it looks pretty interesting. It has been a long time since I played the first game, so I’m not sure that I’ll be able to relate much of the game back to the original. That may or may not be a good thing for my experience. Though they appear to treat voice acting in the same manner, which is odd. May just be an homage, since the hardware is certainly capable of better. Oh, and I obviously got my 360 back from MS. It even came with a free month of Xbox Live Gold.
I was also given a board game called Ticket to Ride, which apparently has existed for a long time without my knowledge. It’s also apparently award winning. The game comes from Germany, and has all these German awards on the box lid. It also has the designer’s name written on it, which is pretty odd for someone of my background – board games aren’t treated as much of an art form here most of the time. We had our first play through tonight, and I’m optimistic that it’s going to be a permanent entry in my rotation. It’s pretty easy to pick up – probably future games will go even better as we get the rules down. I still need to get a better test group, as my family is too much of a mix of play styles. Also, I’m impatient, and people who overthink turns bug the heck out of me. Expect a more complete review coming up on HazardousToast.
I have to work for the next two days, and then I have to work Friday (which is actually more annoying than having to work Monday & Tuesday). It’s not all bad, though – I can get more of my work done when the users aren’t there to bother me.
