2009: Please Be Better Than 2008
This is where most of the people I know/read would insist that they don’t believe in resolutions, but rather setting goals for the upcoming year. And I think I’ll follow their example, though I’m terrible at setting goals. Also, I’d tell you that I’m not big on sweeping statements, but I’ve made a resolution to lie less this year.
Wait, no I didn’t. I refuse to do that!
However, my point is this: I’m going to try and set some goals for this year that I can accomplish. You can feel free to call me out on it if I fail by the end of the year.
- I’m going to keep to my schedule for posting (give or take a few added columns) as much as I’m physically able. This means committing to actually doing my writing work and posting on time, which is by 12 PM EST on the day of the schedule. I’m not sure if I’m going to share my schedule or not just yet. I’m off the hook for natural disasters or emergencies that get in the way, but hopefully I’ll avoid that by having most things written ahead of time (this blog would be the first to suffer, as I try to keep this stuff recent).
- I will keep working on my health. As someone with diabetes, I need to keep eating healthy and exercising. More often than not I’m bad at sticking to it. This means walking around my neighborhood six out of seven nights a week, as well as my nightly weightlifting. I’ve set some quantifiable goals here as well, but those will remain my secret.
I haven’t fully decided on any more, yet. You might be asking why this came up now and not right after New Year’s. Well, I just had to fill out the first self-assessment at work that I’ve had to do since I was hired on full time. It was a little hard for me. Believe it or not, I have a hard time talking myself up sometimes – how should I know if I performed satisfactorily last year?
